First Fashion Memory
A day at the zoo when I was about 4-years-old wearing a pair of blue shorts (in hindsight they were more like hotpants), with a Breton stripe top with two anchor motifs on the sleeve, sandals and white socks. I remember being chuffed with myself because my brother, who’s 5 years older than me, was in a matching outfit!
Get your boot on

There’s sometimes a fine line between really beautiful shoes and seriously ugly ones - I like to call them “bugly” (how annoying is it when people make up words to describe random whims of fancy?). Anyway, I’m currently obsessed with black boots. Actually I have been for quiet a while; on the last count there were sixteen pairs. Flats, heels, bikers, wedges, buckles, rivets-you get the drift.
Stylish Goose does Illustrations for Grazia (and me)
Posted by Angela Scanlon on November 03, 2009 at 10:20
Somebody sent me a link today to this illustration of me looking uncharacteristically innocent! Using the Grazia Style Hunter image Genya Yodka of Stylishgoose.com chose me as “Dublin’s most stylish woman”. While I’m pretty sure I don’t deserve that title I’m still very flattered.
I love fashion illustrations and while many are lithe, lean and of designer proportions, Genya’s have a childlike but coquettish feel to them. As well as illustrating her favourite street style looks, she sketches images straight from the catwalk and is a huge fan of Canadian born Erdem (a girl after my own heart!) See more of her work here.

Cultivate a "Ronnie" for Movember
Posted by Angela Scanlon on October 30, 2009 at 10:30
It’s suddenly that time of year again when the good and great of Ireland cast aside their egos (or inflate them depending on hair growth) to “cultivate a Ronnie” in aid of Movember. Whether you think they should be left to Tom Selleck and 12 year old boys on the 19a eager to prove their manhood, for the month of November none of that matters.
A new style icon is born (in a hoodie)

Miraslava Duma is a wealthy Russian gal with killer style and oh-so beautiful hair. Screw Cheryl Cole this girl belongs on the L'oreal ads, although she may be even more difficult than our Geordie X-bomb to understand.
Closet Confidential with iStylista

A couple of months ago I had the pleasure of being interviewed by the fabulous Chantelle from iStylista, she called me “inspirational” (here) and I fell in love with her! With an inflated ego I retuned the favour and asked her to give us a peek into her rather organised wardrobe. Here I talk to the brains behind the iStylista operation about dressing people for the Bafta’s (she wouldn’t tell me who) and munching triple chocolate goodies before noon…
On the streets
Posted by Angela Scanlon on October 27, 2009 at 10:35
My love for Street Style blogs/sites cannot be underestimated. I’ve been raving about The Sartorialist, Face Hunter and our very own Dublin Streets for donkies now. I am also a huge fan of invite only, DIY photoblog Lookbook NU (thanks Matt). Catching people in their everyday lives, seeing how they interpret the trends and make them wearable is so much more interesting than cut and dry editorial and inspires an afternoon of dress up like nothing else.
Jen is Brill
Posted by Angela Scanlon on October 22, 2009 at 14:26
Once in a while I stumble upon someone who intrigues me. I've never seen her before but all of a sudden features I read, sites I visit, photographers I love are all talking about her. OK, so I sound like a perv and I'm not really, well sometimes but usual with men instead of women. Anyway, meet Jen Brill...
Grazia Style Hunter finalists; featuring me and more!
Posted by Angela Scanlon on October 21, 2009 at 12:48
A few weeks ago team Grazia stopped off in Dublin as part of their UK/Ireland Style Hunter competition. Snapping their way around the streets of Dublin, I had the pleasure of being shot* (but not killed) by the lovely Phil.

Roisin Murphy at Victor & Rolf
Posted by Angela Scanlon on October 16, 2009 at 11:27
Victor & Rolf undoubtedly know how to put on a show. They are a firm favourites with discerning fashionistas and Roisin Murphy is their number one fan. Need I even convince you of their genius!? This time around, with masses of tulle and even more irony, models were sent down the runway with holes cut in dresses and frothy creations seemingly hanging mid air.
